- Find a passage of one or two pages in the book that illustrates two style
elements: figurative language, irony, imagery, etc.
- Prepare a dramatic performance which highlights the meaning (2 minutes)/or
read the passage aloud in a way that clarifies the meaning (this requires
creativity and practice).
- Share with the class transparencies, each highlighting one
important style element in the passage and explain to the class the effect
of that use on the story (commentary).
- Share with the class (one copy for each person), your group's written essay
in which you explain how the piece achieves its meaning.
- Divide chores and points (25pts per person) to total 100%. I will give
10 points bonus to the group that does the best teaching job.
- Each group will rank the essays strongest to weakest and turn in to
me the day after the last presentation. Strongest essay gets 10 bonus
points for each group member.
